The following is a brief overview of the methodology Julie & Company traditionally uses to create websites.
Project Kickoff and Brainstorming Session
Julie & Company meets with your organization’s decision makers to identify your marketing issues and objectives. We discuss your goals, product or service offerings, competition, partners, and more. Why? Because the only way we can produce meaningful website design is if we have a good understanding of your business.
Marketing Research
Julie & Company explores the websites and other marketing materials for similar organizations – we want to know the state of the industry so that your site is best positioned. We also study businesses that offer similar or companion services so that we have a good working knowledge of your market.
Web Design
The next step is web design. Julie & Company uses your corporate identity to build an interesting web presence specialized for your business and its objectives. Julie & Company focuses on building, as Washington Business Forward magazine says, “clean, unique designs.”
Julie & Company first creates a visually compelling homepage design that exemplifies the top-quality products and services you provide to your clients. We ensure that your website is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and provides effective and easy-to-read information.
In addition to the homepage design, Julie & Company also creates a subsequent page template. At the same time, we develop a site outline in conjunction you and your staff. We examine your existing website and with input from the staff, analyze how the site can best be structured for users to find information. After the preliminary designs and site outline have been approved, Julie & Company will finish the website.
Writing Services
If needed, Julie & Company offers writing services as an add-on service if required to help make the text easy to read and understand.
Section 508 Compliance and Accessibility for Users with Disabilities
If needed, for an additional charge Julie & Company can ensure that your website is accessible to users with disabilities. Often referred to as Section 508 Compliance, this section of the Rehabilitation Act that requires any electronic information developed, procured, maintained, or used by the federal government be accessible to people with disabilities. We have performed similar efforts for several other clients and are experienced with Section 508 requirements.
Search Engine Optimization
Julie & Company's search engine optimization (SEO) specialists can help get your website to the top of major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo. We can also help you manage your online advertising with Google Ad Words and the like.
Website Maintenance
Julie & Company can continue to update your website, if desired. If you would prefer to bring web maintenance in-house, we recommend using Macromedia Contribute. Julie & Company builds websites in Macromedia Dreamweaver and can create templates that can be easily used in Contribute to quickly update text content and upload it to your web server. If you require more extensive web maintenance, we can also create or implement a content management system.
Follow-On Work
After Julie & Company finishes the website, the rest is up to you. Many clients contract with Julie & Company to provide additional services such as pocket folders, trifold brochures, large corporate brochures, product sheet shells, direct mail, postcards, PowerPoint presentations, trade show materials and more.
